Saskatchewan Prairie Light Photography Festival

Saskatchewan has a new photography festival in the making. Art galleries and photographers across Saskatchewan have organized Canada’s first province-wide photography event. It has been inspired by the success of Montreal’s Le Moi do la Photo, Toronto’s ScotiaBank Contact and Calgary’s Exposure festivals. Each participating venue curates and schedules its own programming. Openings, workshops, panel discussions and artist talks are locally determined in response to their audience and programming needs. A Festival Guide consolidates and publishes all the programming and catalogues the range of opportunities for the public to enjoy and celebrate all things related to photography and photographers. The following art galleries have signed in to date: Art Gallery of Regina, Art Gallery of Swift Current, Mann Art Gallery (Prince Albert), MacKenzie Art Gallery (Regina), Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery, Neutral Ground/Soil (Regina), PAVED Arts (Saskatoon), Slate Fine Art Gallery (Regina).

I have been invited to show my ” SPECTACLES OF NATURE ” exhibition for the first month starting on January 18, 2014 at the Dean Godfrey Art Gallery in Yorkton. The exhibition will run until mid February and will begin with a my presentation on January 19th titled ” Moving Forward – Becoming a better photographer “. My work will consist of 14 large format images showing landscapes from Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia and Ireland, United Kingdom.

I look forward in spending time with the people of Saskatchewan and especially with my old friends and family members living in the surrounding areas of Yorkton. Screen shot 2014-01-03 at 5.19.57 PM  O'HanleyRiver
